Ford Australia today confirmed pricing and the opening of online reservations for the highly anticipated, all-electric Mustang Mach-E – the company’s first production fully electric SUV. Embodying the spirit of Mustang for an electric future, Mustang Mach-E will arrive in Australian showrooms late this year.

Kicking off the line-up in Australia is the Mustang Mach-E Select which is priced from $79,990 plus on-road costs. This model boasts a 71kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery mated to a single electric motor which delivers 198kW and 430Nm of torque via the rear wheels. New for 2023, the LFP battery will allow Ford to offer the Mach-E with fresh technology proving to be more durable, using fewer high-demand, high-cost materials and with the ability to sustain fast charging as it approaches maximum capacity. The Mach-E Select will offer a driving range of up to 470 km.

Mustang Mach-E Select is equipped with a 15.5-inch infotainment screen (standard across the range) running Ford’s latest-generation SYNC 4A2 system. For enhanced visibility when parking a 360-degree camera is standard as is a B&O sound system with 10 speakers and subwoofer. Wireless phone charging as standard means you can conveniently charge your compatible smartphone without the hassle of a charging cable.

Across the line-up there’s room for five people. There are ISOFIX mounts on the two outboard seats and top tether anchors for all three back seats, making installing child seats easy. The rear seats fold 60:40 to increase rear luggage space when needed.

Mach-E Select features Black Onyx Sensico seats in the front and back, a premium artificial leather upholstery. The front seats are eight-way powered.

On the outside, Select boasts 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof and Ford’s E-Latch door handles which replace conventional door handles, as well as a front-trunk or ‘frunk’ for additional luggage space.

The Mustang Mach-E Premium is priced from $92,990 plus ORCs and boasts a bigger 91kWh battery delivering 216kW and 430Nm of torque via a single motor on the rear axle. This model balances enhanced performance with efficiency, delivering the longest potential driving range of the line-up – with up to 600 km of range.

Building on Select, Premium adds luxury touches like LED projector headlamps, premium-finish scuff plates and pedals, and interior upgrades, including red contrast stitching to its Black Onyx Sensico seats (front and rear), black headliner, and multi-colour ambient lighting as standard.

For the ultimate in performance, the Mustang Mach-E GT can streak from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and is priced from $108,990 plus ORCs.

It features the same 91kWh battery as Mach-E Premium but runs two electric motors (one at the front and one at the rear) delivering 358kW and 860Nm of torque to all four wheels with a driving range of up to 490 km. Mustang Mach-E GT will be the fastest accelerating Ford the Blue Oval offers in Australia.

As the performance-oriented model in the line-up, Mach-E GT features MagneRide Active Suspension which can adjust up to 1000 times a second allowing the dampers to respond in real-time to changing road conditions or driving style. The system also automatically adjusts damping force based on the selected drive mode.

Speaking of drive modes, GT adds Untame Plus to the modes available on the other models: Active, Whisper or Untame. This setting is designed for closed-course driving only and adjusts everything from battery cooling to steering to throttle response, traction and stability controls, all-wheel drive strategy and ensures consistent power and torque delivery for longer-lasting thrills.

Ensuring it stops as well as it goes, Mustang Mach-E GT runs Brembo Flexira front performance brakes, 20-inch alloys wrapped in bespoke Pirelli tyres.

The ‘performance’ continues inside with a pair of bolstered Ford Performance sport front seats designed to support driver and front passenger during spirited driving and finished in a soft-touch leather-like material.

Online order of the Ford Mustang Mach-E is available now, with first costomer delivery expected in Q4 this year.

Lexus has announced updates to its flagship LS 500 and LS 500h sedans for 2023 with the latest connectivity technology and improved user interface to bring it in line with the brand’s latest line-up.

Part of the updates include expanded Lexus Connected Services and more multimedia and remote functions. Wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard on the LS, along with wired Android Auto.

Customers will now interact with the most up-to-date multimedia system through a 12.3-inch touchscreen display in the centre console instead of the previous touchpad. “Hey Lexus” voice recognition function also makes its debut on the LS, which allows occupants to interact with the vehicle through conversational language.

In addition to the existing LS safety and security features of Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Call and Stolen Vehicle Tracking, the upgraded LS now adds benefits such as Lexus Multimedia Connect which synchronises the Lexus Connected app with the multimedia system to offer cloud-based connected navigation with live traffic, weather, parking and map updates, location searching, and first- and last-mile routing.

Lexus Status Connect features offer a wealth of vehicle data and information all accessible at the owner’s fingertips, including odometer and fuel level readings, remaining range, the vehicle’s last known location, vehicle diagnostics data and recent trip details.

Owners can also now remotely check whether the doors, windows, boot and bonnet are closed and locked, and receive alerts if unlocked or open. Tyre pressure status can also be remotely monitored and hazard lights activated by a press on a smartphone screen.

Finally, Lexus Remote Connect features allow owners to remotely start the car’s engine and lock/unlock the doors.

Another new feature is the updated Panoramic View Monitor which now has a new underbody transparent display function.

Exterior changes are minimal with deletion of the Lexus badge on the boot lid, deletion of Hybrid badge on the lower rear doors, deletion of blue hue from the Lexus brand logo badge and ‘500h’ model name badge.

The LS 500 continues to be powered by the 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 310kW and 600Nm from 1600-4800 rpm, while the LS 500h features a naturally aspirated V6 of the same capacity with a multi-stage hybrid system offering 264kW.

These subtle but significant enhancements to the LS 500 and LS 500h follow a comprehensive update in February 2021.

The revised LS 500 and LS 500h are now on sale priced from $195,920.

Model Price (excluding on-road costs)
LS 500h F Sport $195,920
LS 500h Sports Luxury $201,040
LS 500   F Sport $197,190
LS 500   Sports Luxury $202,320

The new 2023 Peugeot 308 range will initially launch in Australia with three variants across two body styles, both powered by the French marque’s “PureTech” turbo petrol engine, with a fourth variant powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain due to arrive in the first half of 2023.

When complete, the local line-up will consist of three hatchback variants and a wagon, giving buyers the choice of 308 GT Hatch, 308 GT Premium Hatch, 308 GT Premium Wagon and the 308 GT Sport Hatch Plug-in Hybrid.

The PureTech 130 engine powering the non hybrid Peugeot 308 hatch and wagon models is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine delivering 96 kW of power and 230 Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission which Peugeot calls Efficient Automatic Transmission (EAT8).

The range-topping Peugeot 308 GT Sport Hatch Plug-In Hybrid matches a 132 kilowatt, 1.6-litre, PureTech turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and 81 kW electric motor, the pair combining to deliver 165 kW and 360 Nm.

The 308 GT Sport Hatch Plug-In Hybrid uses a derivative of the EAT8, the electric-Efficient Automatic Transmission (e-EAT8) which replaces the torque convertor with a clutch pack.

Notably, the Peugeot 308 is the first model to bear the brand’s new coat of arms, which is centrally mounted on the bold, graphic grille, highlighting the grille pattern that gradually converges towards it. The badge also neatly houses the radar sensors used by the car’s electronic driving aids.

The Peugeot 308 is roomier thanks to increases to the wheelbase, overall length, height, and width, ensuring even more space for rear seat passengers and luggage.

That changed architecture of the new 308 also enhances the next-generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit with its new compact, multi-function steering wheel, 10-inch 3D digital instrument panel display and 10-inch, high-definition colour touchscreen housing Peugeot’s new i-Connect infotainment system.

A comprehensive range of safety features and driver assistance technologies are standard across the new Peugeot 308 range and include:

The new FL5-generation Honda Civic Type R officially goes on sale ahead of its arrival in February 2023. But the most powerful, best-performing, and well-equipped Civic Type R ever is also the most expensive. With a national drive away price of $72,600, the new 2023 Civic Type R costs about $12,000 more than the previous model.

Neverthelss, interest is still at sky high for the hot hatch, with it already having more than 4,000 pre-registrations since its world premiere in July this year.

Purists who fork out for what could be the last engine powered Civic Type R will be rewarded with an even more powerful version of Honda’s renown K20C1 engine. The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine now produces 235 kW of power and 420 Nm of torque – improvements of 7 kW and 20 Nm respectively over the previous model.

The added power is courtesy of a redesigned turbocharger, increased air intake flow rate and a new, more efficient exhaust system that features a straight through design and an active exhaust valve. A larger grille opening, upsized radiator and bigger fan improve engine cooling, ensuring sustained, optimal performance even during extreme driving.

Driving engagement is heighten with the active exhaust valve opening at higher rpm to extract the best of the engine sound track. Offering an even more intimate and rewarding connection with the driver, the exclusive six-speed manual transmission is further improved with a lighter flywheel and a revised rev-match system that ensures perfectly paired rev-matching when shifting down through the gears. The gearbox has also gained a high-rigidity lever and optimised shift gate pattern for more precise gear changes.

Designed in Japan, the Type R’s new, more muscular body features integrated flared wheelarches over wider tracks and lightweight 19-inch matte black alloy wheels wrapped in wider 265/30 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. The new wheels use a special ‘reverse rim’ design that improves the stability of the tyre contact patch under load.

Compared to the specification of the previous generation Civic Type R, the new model is more comprehensively equipped with a wide-ranging list of new features and technologies, including:

  • Newly developed 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine with increased power and torque
  • Individual drive mode in addition to Comfort, Sport and +R
  • Active exhaust valve
  • Wider 265/30 size Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres
  • Customisable 10.2-inch high-definition full colour digital driver information display
  • Blind spot information system
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Traffic Sign Recognition System
  • Intelligent Speed Limiter
  • Driver Attention Monitor
  • Knee airbags – driver and front passenger
  • 9-inch Advanced Display Audio touchscreen system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Honda Connect
  • In-built Honda LogR
  • Satellite navigation
  • Acoustic windscreen
  • ‘Smart Clear Wiper’ windscreen wiper/washer system
  • Auto-retractable door mirrors
  • Full suede-effect seat trim
  • Ambient door trim and front footwell lighting

Paint colours for the new Civic Type R will include the historic Championship White revered by Type R enthusiasts, along with Rally Red, Crystal Black and Sonic Grey.

Arrival of the 2023 Civic Type R will complete the new generation Civic family, joining the VTi LX variant and e:HEV LX hybrid model.

Genesis’ GV70 mid-size luxury SUV has just gained a fully electric model. Sitting above the GV70 3.5T Sport All-Wheel Drive variant, the Electrified GV70 Performance features a twin electric motor system with all-wheel drive.

With twin 180kW, 350Nm electric motors – one driving the front wheels and one driving the rear wheels – the all-wheel drive Electrified GV70 delivers total maximum outputs of 360kW (with Boost Mode) and 700Nm, accelerating from rest to 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds.

A 77.4kWh power battery offers 445km (WLTP) of driving range and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes when plugged into a 350kW DC fast charger.

In addition, Electrified GV70 features the Genesis SUV-specific e-Terrain Mode, which enables “a stable driving experience across the spectrum of driving conditions”.

The application of a 400V/800V multi-rapid charging system lets customers utilise a variety of 400V and 800V charging infrastructures without the need for an additional converter.

A Disconnector Actuator System (DAS) in Electrified GV70 can automatically connect or disconnect the front motor and drive shaft in consideration of various conditions, such as driving mode and vehicle speed. The system enables seamless switching between RWD and AWD, reducing unnecessary power loss for optimum efficiency.

The fully electric SUV’s Smart Regenerative Braking system also optimises coasting efficiency by automatically adjusting the amount of regenerative braking in three stages, based on the speed of the vehicle ahead, the following distance, and navigation map road sign data such as the position of safety cameras.

An i-PEDAL (Intelligent Pedal) driving mode takes the level of regenerative braking a step further to let the driver accelerate, decelerate and stop using only the accelerator pedal.

The Electrified GV70 is offered in one highly equipped ‘Luxury Package’ trim grade, priced from $127,800 plus on-road costs. With the vehicle already fully spec’ed, there is only one option available which is matte paint costing $2,000.

Genesis Motor’s vision for electrification has now given rise to three new EVs this year, with GV60, Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70 all now available in Australia.

The all-new second generation 2023 BMW M2 has been officially unveiled today, combining compact dimensions with powertrain and chassis technology from the latest BMW M3 and M4 to create a new iteration of the baby M car.

Availability of a six-speed manual alongside an eight-speed automatic transmission, the new M2 continues to appeal to the pure enthusiast while maintaining its unique offering in the segment.

The BMW M straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that powers the new M2 has been upgraded to produce 338kW of power at 6,250rpm, 36kW more than before. It develops a peak torque of 550Nm which is produced between 2,650 and 5,870rpm. The TwinPower Turbo unit revs to a maximum of 7,200rpm.

The build-up of power is accompanied by a richer soundtrack generated by the M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps.

The sports coupe completes the sprint to 100km/h from rest in just 4.1 seconds with the eight-speed automatic transmission and in 4.3 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox.

Powering on, 200km/h arrives in 13.5 seconds (automatic) or 14.3 seconds (manual). The limited top speed of the new M2 can be raised from 250km/h to 285km/h by specifying the optional M Carbon Experience.

The updated 2023 BMW Z4 roadster will launch in Australia early next year with a host of key revisions.

The open-top two-seater will feature fresh design accents for the exterior, newly available paint finishes, a new alloy wheel design and an expanded range of equipment to boost its appeal.

BMW Australia will continue its existing two variant line-up via the Z4 sDrive20i and M40i, with both providing a balance of performance and efficiency from their turbocharged petrol engines and eight-speed sport automatic transmissions.

Delivering a fresh and sporting look to the front fascia of the new Z4 is a new BMW kidney grille design that features horizontal slats and new front apron side air curtain intakes.

Complementing the new face is a new 19-inch alloy wheel offering. The M light V-spoke style 772 M Bicolour Jet Black matte wheels with a diamond polished edge add to the Z4’s aesthetic and sporting allure.

The revised M Sport Plus package now integrates M Lights Shadow Line, which replaces chrome touches for the headlight element surrounds with black.

Three new metallic exterior colours are also available, including M Portimao Blue, Thundernight and Skyscraper Grey.

Under the bonnet, the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine powers the Z4 sDrive20i M Sport with 145kW and 320Nm, while the punchier 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder turbo petrol engine motivates the flagship z4 M40i with 285kW and 500Nm.

Toyota’s updated HiLux Rogue flagship pick-up is set to arrive in local showrooms in October, sporting significant mechanical upgrades that include wider track and increased ride height.

The upgraded HiLux Rogue will be priced from $70,200 plus on-road costs, meaning the upgraded suspension, brakes and body enhancements will be offered to adventurist with no price increase.

The changes to the Rogue’s suspension centre around a front and rear track increase of about 140mm, while ride height has also been increased by some 20mm.

Toyota engineers upgraded the HiLux suspension by extending the length of the front suspension arm and front stabiliser bar, while also adjusting the front damper angle to improve efficiency.

The rear axle has been lengthened, and as such, the rear dampers have been moved out towards the wheels.

For the first time on a HiLux, a rear stabiliser bar has been installed, which helps to improve roll rigidity by 20 per cent and enhance steering feel when cornering and changing lanes.

The brakes also been further improved with rear ventilated disc brakes replacing the existing drum brakes, helping to improve stopping power.

The upgraded Rogue is easy distinguished by the new wide track overfenders and mudguards that house the new increased track width and integrate seamlessly into the front bumper, while the existing 17-inch alloy wheels have been replaced by 18-inch alloys with a darkened finish.

The range topping model retains features unique to the HiLux range such as the locally developed motorised roller cover, resin sports bar and design touches, and a tub lined with marine-grade carpet.

Other standard specification highlights include heated front seats with perforated leather accented upholstery, panoramic view monitor and an integrated trailer wiring harness and towball.

The Rogue comes standard with a nine-speaker premium audio system, however Toyota says customers who place an order may be offered the choice of a six-speaker audio system for a $750 discount.

Toyota Australia has implemented this temporary strategy to secure continued supply of Hilux Rogue for customers.

Like the rest of the HiLux line-up, the HiLux Rogue is powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 150kW/500Nm. It’s teamed exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Nine exterior colours are available on the Rogue, consisting of Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Sky, Graphite, Eclipse Black, Nebula Blue, Feverish Red, Saturn Blue and Oxide Bronze.
